Up until the present day there have been a number of unexpected events happening around the world. One in particular is getting lost and/or injured in the wilderness. Being in this situation is one of the worse possible situations there is. Unless one does not have an emergency preparedness plan for such then there is no problem.

Since different kinds of emergencies call for different kinds of emergency preparedness plans then knowing how to prepare for one type of emergency is essential. But first of all, preparing the mind to deal with such things is also necessary. Even with the right plans in mind when the actual event does happen and panic starts to take over then the whole emergency preparedness plan is ruined. All the preparations taken for such is all lost. However with the right condition of the mind, having the emergency preparedness to handle such situation is one of the key into taking care of an emergency situation properly. Once the right state of mind is prepared or at least capable of being in such situation, next are the proper steps to be taken in an emergency. In case of being lost in the wilderness, unless none in the group has any injury, the first thing one should do is to be able to start a fire since fire is one of the most versatile tools that can be used in the wild, it is the first priority or taking care of the wounded. Next concern is water since the human body is pretty much composed of a big portion of water it is best to keep one hydrated. Taking or drinking water straight from natural sources in the wilderness may not be recommended since certain bacteria exist in such sources and may or will cause harm to the human body. It is best to boil it first before drinking it, and this is where the fire comes into play. But that is just one of the many things fire can provide. If a good source of water is available, next thing to prioritize is food. Even though an average human could last for a few days without food than water, the nutrients the food provides is more than water. After hunting for food, most likely a small animal, it should be cooked first because just as water it contains harmful bacteria. But if it is fruit from trees then it is fine to eat it right away (just make sure that the particular fruit is indeed edible and not poisonous). Now the first the basic things are taken cared of the next thing to do is to find or make shelter. If getting help will take more than a day it is best to find or make a shelter to provide protection at least for the night. In certain places, lying on the ground is not advised for the place may contain ants or any other insects, snakes and the like, making some sort of bed or a hammock is recommended. Sometimes it is safe to rest on the ground in some places however other factors come in play, it may be too cold or windy to be just lying on the ground without cover, this is where a tent or any similar shelter could come in handy. It could serve as protection against the strong winds and provide insulation.

This is for having emergency preparedness when going out in the wilderness. There are other types of emergencies that require a different form of emergency preparedness plan. At least getting the information on how to prepare for one is already a good thing.
